Do You Love It? – The Lyrics

Once again Jonas Bjerre has blessed us with a “MewXclusive”. Here are the official lyrics for Do You Love It? and note that the song references and quotes a poem called Whispers of Immortality by T.S. Eliot from 1920.

A sleek Brazilian jaguar
does not in its arboreal gloom
Distill so rank a feline smell
Footsteps shuffled on the stairs
on sweaty faces
Unshaven
With a sleek Brazilian jaguar
torturing the silky sheet
in a moment that tasted sweet
Footsteps shuffled on the stairs

Do you love it? Do you love it?

Do you love it? Do you love it?

No, no rainfall
It’s hard to believe
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)
We carried this alone
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)

A sleek Brazilian jaguar
does not in its arboreal gloom
Distill so rank a feline smell
Footsteps shuffled on the stairs
on sweaty faces
All shaven

Sweetness, run as the cat would
Dreaming until no-one hides the letters,
writes them better

No, no rainfall
It’s hard to believe
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)
We carried this alone
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)

No, no rainfall
It’s hard to believe
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)
We carried this alone
(Do you love it? Do you love it?)

Soon you and I can’t be identified
We’ll just slide by
’cause we are cool
in disguise

  1. Hey, do you guys have any info to share with us about the problems with Eggs Are Funny limited ed.? ‘Cause i already bought it, but the cover is wrong or something, i’ve read? Details if you have it please! 🙂

  2. Hi, Tero here.

I don’t know anything else than what Mew explained on their official sites. Apparently there are false prints from both the CD-only and the CD+DVD-edition.

CD-only (first print) lists the DVD-tracks when it shouldn’t. In future prints these will not be featured. The disc is flawless still.

CD+DVD (first print) failed, cause the digipack shouldn’t have Johan Wohlert in a solo image but all four together (hologram), the discs are flawless.

Bo wrote this: “hey folkies.apparently someone went to work drunk on the day they were making the special limited ed.mew EGGS ARE CERTAINLY FUNNY retrospective.the hologram on the cover was made to show all band members not only ex.member johan wohlert. as much as i like johan im sure it will make more sense once you see the cover that was ment to be.we pulled the duds off the market and the correct version should be on the way. ,b”

CD+DVD has a new release date – AROUND November 25th and the slight error in the CD-only version will be fixed in future prints.

From Facebook: “The Limited edition will be in stock from November 25ish. We’re not sure if it will be released with the hologram-cover outside Denmark, but it will be available worldwide from our web-shop. You can also buy both versions at the shows in Copenhagen and Aarhus.”

I can’t really talk about Sony Music’s involvement. I know something, but that is a secret – as of now. All I’m saying is that at this point, I would suggest that you buy your Eggs Are Funny from Denmark. Or an imported Danish version.

  3. Okay, thank you so much Tero! I’m going to keep this but im pretty curious how it’s supposed to look like. And curious about the secret! You really tease by telling you know something. 😉

  4. Contrary to what I said, the DVD disc itself is full of errors and it will be very different in the future prints.

From quick look, you’ll find that at least “Kites” -videos have come from very bad masters, the “face-morphing” in the menu doesn’t work properly, one of the tracks is called “Why Are You Looking Looking Grave? and some directors’ names have been misspelled.

Mew will soon tell you how to change your copy to a corrected version, if you choose to do so. I will hold on to this version as well.

    -Tero
