Well, it was bound to happen eventually. The first review I’ve seen that brings in that Taylor Swift comparison.

I don’t get the Taylor Swift comparison, mostly because I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Taylor Swift song.

        Another great review though.

Oh yeah I see. Never heard this song before but that’s quite an obvious similarity.

Funny enough, Jonas and Johan were talking about her in this interview (minute 3:51), as Gustav, Jonas doesn’t know about her music (me neither, but now I’m also curious about that song)

Prior to “Water Slides” I had never heard a TS song myself, and the comparison made me go check that song out. There are undeniable similarities in that one passage, but I can’t imagine that is anything other than coincidence. The question posed to Mew here seems a little fishy though, so I’m wondering if it was a subtle way for them to say “look, there are only so many notes out there, some songs are bound to sound similar even if it’s not intentional.”

No, nothing to worry about. It’s literally 4 notes (or 2×2).

did jonas just said that he never listened even one taylor swift song? i think he’s lying, because it’s basically everywhere. surely he must’ve heard that annoying trombone from Shake It Off once.

It’s totally possible if you don’t watch TV or listen to pop music in general. I myself never heard her music until this, or if I did I didn’t know it was hers.

Think I must’ve heard something, but I couldn’t recall anything or name a single Taylor Swift song. I think I hear about 2-3 number 1 singles a year these days. I’m clearly old and out of touch with da yoof.

I noticed the similarity pretty quickly. So did a lot of my friends and we laughed about it but its just a coincidence.

🙁 whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I listen to TS occasionally, and I don’t hear the similarity. At all.

It’s that one song mentioned in the review. A bit of the melody is the same as “say stop, made up”.
