Fifth Festival Show To Denmark — March 27, 2010 — 07:48

Danish frengers may consider them quite lucky this summer. Mew have just announced their fifth festival show in Denmark (others being the ones in Jelling, Skive, Nibe and Skanderborg) and that will take place in the city of Aarhus on June 19th. Northside Festival’s lineup consists of some of the biggest Danish acts (including Nephew, Veto and – of course – Mew). Ticket costs 245 DKK if you are able to buy it before April 30th.

Mew To Poland — March 20, 2010 — 11:48

If memory serves, this is Mew’s first ever show in Poland. OFF Festival 2010 will take place in the city of Katowice in Dolina Trzech Stawów (Three Lake Valley). The festival is held on August 5th through August 8th, but we have no exact date for Mew yet. Still, it will be on one of the festival’s first three days, because Mew will play in Skanderborg, Denmark on August 8th.

EDIT: Mew announced the exact date, it’s August 7th.

Jonas At The Movies – Finale — March 11, 2010 — 22:19

Ok, let’s wrap this up (this has taken us months to complete)…

Jonas Bjerre’s favourite movie he saw in 2009 was the Swedish vampire masterpiece Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In, 2008) which will get its unfortunate “remaking” in the US very soon. He also listed two of his favourite Danish films and they are the wonderful Festen (The Celebration, 1998) which was the first of the Dogme 95 -manifesto, and the only really good one of them. The other Danish flick is called Applaus (Applause, 2009).

His favourite animated films are Disney’s The Jungle Book (1967), Hayao Miyazaki’s classic Mononoke-hime (Princess Mononoke, 1997) and “for its time and its music” Akira (1988). From music themed motion pictures he mentioned True Stories (1986) by David Byrne and Jonathan Demme’s Stop Making Sense (1984).

About the most disappointing movie ever, he talked about David Lynch’s 1992 film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me:

I was so into the series, and the film just didn’t feel connected to the same universe. Later on though, I have learned to appreciate certain parts of it, like the scene in the pink room. But it still doesn’t compete with the series, especially season 1“.

Two More Danish Festivals Added — March 4, 2010 — 12:56

As many had expected, Nibe and Skanderborg are now added for next summer. Nibe Festival will be held on June 30th through July 3rd and Mew will take the stage on July 2nd. Skanderborg Festival will be held on August 4th-8th and Mew will play on the last day. It is now pretty much a certainty that Mew will not play at Roskilde Festival where they had a massive audience last summer.
